Valve is selling and delivering the Steam Link and Steam Controller and they advertise as working on multiple platforms, but the truth is that they don't actually work on Mac OS X systems.

It's true that the launch date for all of these Steam goodies, like the Controller, Link, and the Machines is November 10, but it looks like Valve has already shipped the Link and the Controller. From the looks of it, none of these works on Mac OS X systems and the company has issued an apology. All users who bought the controller or the Steam Link but can't use it on their Macs receive the Valve Complete Pack, which comprises all the Valve games, past, present, and future.
To make things even more interesting, if the players ask for a refund, they will be compensated and will be able to keep the games. Apparently, Valve considers this to be a really big oversight and this is their way of saying 'we're sorry, please don't be mad.'

It's not clear why Valve chose to send these two devices ahead of time, but they probably wanted to hit a curved ball. They wanted people to get used to the controller when they first received their Steam Machines. It's also possible that they thought they are going to have a lot of orders and avoiding congestions so close to the holidays is a good idea.

There is also some good news for the Mac OS X users who still want to use their new toys. Even if they are currently collecting dust, they should work in the near future. According to a report on Eurogamer.net, the company promised that the issues would be fixed soon and that Mac OS X users would once again enjoy feature parity with the rest of the world.
